List of Digg Tools

Digg.com is one of the most popular websites around at the moment, and since they opened their Digg API many new tools from different developers have been released. Here are the best of the best.

Firstly I'll list the ones from the Digg Contest, but you've probably seen them already...

  • Digg City - Digg City shows the 10 newest popular stories. The more popular the story gets, the taller the building. When someone diggs the story, a stick figure representing that user is added. This stick figure will then go inside the building or story that he has just Dugg.
  • Digg Charts - Flex application that generates charts comparing popular stories. Additionally, a graph is generated showing a selected story's popularity over time. The user view allows viewing a user's popular submitted stories.
  • Digg Exposé - This project takes snap(.com) shots of pages from Digg and displays them in a configurable exposé © view. Drag the images around, sort them, or change the category.
  • Wheel of Upcoming - Displays recently submitted stories in a spiral pattern that a user can rotate using mouse gestures. Stories are color-coded based on activity. Users can select categories or subcategories. Story details are also made available.
  • Diggmob - A mobile interface for Digg in FlashLite 2.x. DiggMob displays the popular stories from a category, allows reading the teaser, and can direct the phone browser to the full article. Preferences are saved to the phone for easy entrance after the first run.
  • WordWeb - This visualization analyzes the relationships between popular keywords and the stories they appear within. Words that appear more often are displayed more prominently, and you should click on these words to explore deeper connections.
  • Mini Digg - Mini Digg is a small Apollo Digg application that allows users to view stories and see the story activity, with user settings and a story tracking feature that allows to save favorite stories for future tracking.
  • Digg Watch - Digg Watch is a tool that lets users browse Digg and grab interesting information from stories, like who Dugg what stories and how many Diggs a story gets over time. You can also browse pages of submitted stories right in the application.
  • D'lite - D'Lite is an Apollo application that utilizes Digg's API to retrieve their amazing data, information, and processes. Some of the cool features of this application include pagination, favorites, network detection, and smart auto refresh
  • DiggGraphr Desktop - DiggGraphr Desktop is a desktop application written in Apollo that lets you browse Digg stories in treemaps. The application also allows you to customize certain features as well as choose the channels you are interested in

And now we're onto the non Digg Contest related ones...

  • Diggpics - searches and returns a list of stories that have photos as the main subject
  • DiggMap - Diggs are shown in real-time on the map for users that have specified their location in their profile.
  • Diggitizer - make any normal headline into a headline great for Digg...
  • Mb3dEngine - 3d visulisation of Digg - very nice
  • Original Signal - nice way to view digg stories
  • Talk Digger - search through converstations within Digg and other websites
  • Clean Digg RSS Feed - RSS feed with direct links to the stories rather than going to the Digg comments page
  • Digg Google Modules - for use on the Google homepage
  • Duggmirror - couldn't even use Digg half the time without this!

And finally, some tools direct from Digg itself

  • Integrate - Allows you to put Digg This buttons on your site
  • Google Coop for Digg - See Digg articles at the top of your Google search results.
  • Google IG Module - View recent stories from Digg on your personalized Google homepage.
